You just have to see my 10" baby modeling for the first time. She's so cute wearing different outfits. My Version of Mark Dennis' Tutorial

For those of you following Mark Dennis' blog (http://www.madsculptor.blogspot.com/), I thought I'd share my version of his Tristan and Isolde sculpt which I created using his first blog tutorial. I made this for my mother for her 80th birthday gift. I hope you enjoy seeing it. I used my parents' faces as my models and wanted to touch on all the years they were together and still are which is why I chose the title for the piece to be "Through The Years." I dressed them in the style of clothing they would have worn back when they were dating but aged them to represent their ages now. The piece is intended to depict their love that has lasted through the years. Oh, and if you aren't following his blog, you should. He's been wonderful about helping so many sculptors learn new techniques. I've already learned a tremendous amount from him and only need more time to use them now. Hope you enjoy my version of Mark's concept!

OOAK Guitar Hero Hand Sculpted Faceplate

Here it is, my newest OOAK Guitar Hero sculpted faceplate cover. I'm thrilled to know it arrived to my customer and she's very happy with it. It's the second one I've made so there are only two out there in the world that I know of. These give me a chance to be creative in a totally different way than my art doll sculptures. If you look at the photo below, you'll see that I added a Grim Reaper to it. I ended up with 34 faces in this piece so look closely to find them all. There are several that are somewhat hidden! This piece is titled "Lost Souls 2." What fun these are!

Boy's Baptismal Outfit

I wanted to stop in and say hello to everyone and also show you my newest creation. No, it's not a sculpt or a doll of some sorts, but this is a very special item for me. I made this for my grandson's baptismal outfit. It's the first time I attempted anything like this and my first try at heirloom stitching, which, by the way, was so much fun. I hope you'll enjoy seeing that I can actually do other things besides sculpt. LOL He looked wonderful wearing it on his special day, and I was proud to have had the honor of making this for him. For any of you interested in creating one, I can tell you I found the instructions and the pattern in an old 2000 issue of Sew Beautiful magazine. If you do a search on Wesley's Romper, you'll probably find mention of it on the web and maybe even be able to track down the issue somewhere for sale.

Newest Sculpt

This is my newest sculpt. He's a full sculpt and the mushrooms are sculpted. Sitting, he measures approximately 3.5" Named him Grayson after my grandson. He has such a sweet little face. He's been busy gathering straw to make his bedding for the night, and he captured a firefly and placed it in a jar to give him some lighting during those long night hours. Hope you enjoy seeing him. He's stolen my heart!

New Grandson

I'm a new grandma -- again! Yesterday, I got my first grandson. He's definitely a keeper. He weighed in at 8 lbs. 14.5 oz. and is 22" long. Yes, he's a big boy but this is my kind of baby! His name is Grayson. I was sure ready for a boy after having granddaughters. I raised boys so this is more normal for me. LOL Anyway, wanted to share a pic of this little bundle. Hope you enjoy!

My Dad's Birthday Today!

Today's the day! My father is now 80 years old and I'm busy getting ready for his party this evening. I have a drive yet to get there, but it will be worth it. I finished his gift and couldn't find a thing to wrap it in so my granddaughter and I made it ourselves last night by using paint pens and a huge green trash bag. Yep, those trashbags do come in handy at times! So, the next time you need a huge item to wrap in and just can't find the perfect thing out there, make it yourself! You'd be surprised how much fun it is. It gave my granddaughter a chance to be creative with me which was so much fun. She had a blast helping. It took me quite a while to get those bills tied on, but I love the results. The bills were crisp and worked perfectly for the leaves. We'll see what dad has to say about this gift. Wonder if he'll want the money from it enough to take all 80 of these bills off! LOL Oh, I sculpted the vase from polymer over a glass jar. Simple but time consuming getting that texture on. Then, I brushed Pearl-Ex on the raw clay, baked, and sealed. And, a tree wouldn't be complete without a medallion celebrating the special day so that was created from polymer and Pearl-Ex, too! One side has an "80" on it and the other . . . well, you can see! He always told us money didn't grow on trees and I've waited a long time to prove him wrong! LOL Good thing I know he doesn't read my blog or he'd see it before it's given to him. I just couldn't wait to show all my blogger friends and followers! Oops! I need to get busy and wrap the tree so I can get ready to head out on the road! "On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again . . . ." Why when I travel does this song ring in my head!

New Projects

It has been so busy in my studio lately, but I'm proud to say I just finished my first "Pinup Fairy." She was such fun to create and I added a special little feature to her to make her even that much better. I tried my hand at applying eyelashes for the first time and am hooked now. Oh, and she definitely has that pleasurable look that so many men enjoy! LOL If you want to see more pics of her, be sure to stop by my website. Did I ever mention that I'm also a quilter? My second project was a geneology quilt I had started right before I began sculpting. I finally finished it and have it proudly displayed on my wall in the family room of my home. Where else would someone post pictures of their ancestors! LOL Here's a pic that I hope you'll enjoy and maybe it will inspire some of you to create your own geneology quilt that could be passed down for generations. I love looking at it wondering who I got my creative and artsy touch from. Maybe it's a little piece of each of them all bottled up into me! Hmmm! I guess this is something to ponder over for a while. Oh, now that could take me a while to do! Thanks for stopping by to visit me here!

Published, Can You Believe It!

I just received my November issue of Doll Crafter & Costuming Magazine and my article was published in it along with a pic of my Ghost Whisperer Vignette! Amazing that someone like me would be lucky enough to have my work published! It's so strange seeing my work and my name in a magazine! Wow, it feels great! Wish those of you who've been published would have told me how exciting it is! I had no idea!!! I think I need to guard my issue with my life and put it in a very safe place! It may never happen to this old gal again! LOL

My Studio

I thought I'd add a couple of pictures here so you can see my studio. It's not a large room, but I've spent lots of time trying to organize it. It's much more crowded with supplies now than it was when these pictures were taken. But, what good is a studio if you can't have lots of supplies and goodies to play with!
